WORK WORK WORK....VOL II
Well sad days are ahead.... I am entering my last two weeks at this job... my contract is up! I have to say I have had an absolute blast working here! This office had 18 women and two guys permanently in the office.............. three others would come and go, guys that is.
18 to 2......
thats 18 to 2..........
Lovely! Really nice people, good senses of humour, even some of that disturbed people that come in for help have been really nice decent human beings!
I work in a housing office. A place where people at the bottom of the social scale sit. Feet firmly planted in the dirt! (remember the socio-economic pyramid)
I think when you are work in an office like this you see people who really would not survive without the state. People with mental health issues mostly fall into this catergory. Though there are others...
But you realise that life really is hard for some people and that we as a society are doing the right thing by helping them. The welfare state, the NHS and free education are all signs that we are trying to be a decent, civilised nation( We being the British Peoples, that being ALL who live within these Isles!). It gives me a good feeling that we do this for ourselves and for people from all around the world who come and make a home in the UK.
We are not perfect here. We do and say a great many things that reflect badly on our national character. But we should never forget the good that we do. I also think that we should not forget that while politicians line their own pockets and make cuts in services we pay for, that regular folk, real human beings DO care for and about each other. Dont forget the simple fact that every single day people of different cultures, relgions and "colours" get on just fine, without a worry, not only "tolerating" each others differences, but actively enjoying them!
But back to my working environment......
Gonna miss coming in here and miss the ladies I work with cos they are all so nice! They have made me feel very welcome from day one!!!!!!!!!!
Speak to you all soon!!!!
