Good Bye Tito!

So, After ten years at the top our not so beloved leader, Anthony Blair, has called time on his premiership!

I feel sure that things have not turned out the way he expected. The tide of optimism upon which Tito surfed to power washed away the stench of sleaze covering the previous Tory Government. I do recall that genuine feeling, that things were about to take a turn for the better, that we would have a government in place that, if not actually getting everything right, would make its decisions based on what was right, if not in the true Labour way of fighting first and formost for the working classes, then at least ideas born of the fire of old labour, then hammered out on the anvil that is NEW LABOUR.... Things can only get better, was the song and the nations D:ream.

So the question one now has to ask is, What went wrong, if anything? Was Tony so very bad? Did he let us down as badly as Tory twit, old Etonian and leader of the weakest opposition party since err... you know the last weakest opposition party!! Whoever that may be. But DC(David Cameron) has shown himself to be an oppurtunist, not a really skilled one with outstanding intellect, just an oppurtunist! But was Tito so very bad? If he was, why did DC fail so often to really show this at PMQ's(Prime Ministers Questiontime)? Maybe, apart from DC being the real life version of Tim nice but Dim, Maybe Tony wasnt THAT bad..... Possibly?

I think he is ,quite rightly, being given a bit of a beating at the moment, his legacy(?! That word again) has been cemented, long before he has walked out of office, as Iraq. A standpoint that cannot be argued, in my opinion. Tito has had many domestic success's, Low unemployment, record numbers of people in work. NHS waiting list down(genuinely), Working Tax credit's, crime is down...... We now have peace in Northern Island too!!!!!! These things can be said to be Tony's Legacy too!!!

So why has Iraq so defined him? To me it is linked to SPIN. For years now New Labour have sought to pull the wool over our eyes when they have had no need to. Long before any dodgy Dossier. Leaks here and there, bad news being realeased as good news. Tony's government developed a reputation for being deceptive, despite, by and large, doing a good job!

When the dossier came out leading members of the cabinet resigned, claiming that this was not sufficient evidence to go to war. Tony insisted that it was. Then made the fatal error of siding, nay standing shoulder to shoulder, with a man widely regarded as an imbecile in the UK! GEORGE W. BUSH! Short of coming out to speak about international issues with Zippy from Rainbow, Tito could not have found an allie more widely ridiculed in this new fangled war on TERRRROOOOOR!

So, he has a reputation for not quite being totally honest, CHOSE an idiot for a boss, after-all, Tony has been labelled Gee Wizzles lap dog, is evermore linked with a dodgy dossier and has, no doubt, totally failed in his and Gee-Wizzles stated aim of making the world safer and bringing democracy(well democracy lite cos all the real decisions about the country are now being made in Washington and will continue to be!) to Iraq...... Oh, and the small matter of the UK now being firmly in the sites of homemade terrorists and the Hierarchy of Osama Bin-Ladens Al-Queda....

It is clearly THE defining issue of his time, all the other issues pale in comparison. The war on terror, our place in it and how it has evolved, how the British Government KNEW there were extremists working hard in the UK but ALLOWED them to spread their message, represents a total failiure, from start to finish!

Thats how and why he will be remembered! All his succes's mean very little, when your biggest moment represents your biggest failiure!!! A failure for which all the people of the UK and the
world will pay for in blood.....................

Tito cant expect to be well recalled!!!
